Diamonds worth Rs 12 lakh stolen in Surat

Surat: Diamonds worth more than Rs 12 lakh have been stolen from a diamond polishing unit in the Varacha area of the city, police said.
The theft ocuurred on Tuesday night when four unknown persons entered the V. Bipin Kumar and Co. in the Rangnagar society of Varacha area from the terrace, said police.
According to police, the robbers tampered with the CCTV cameras inside the premises before running away with rough and polished diamonds worth more than Rs 12 lakh.
After entering the polishing unit, the robbers broke the iron safe in which the diamonds were kept.
A team of forensic experts is also examining the case.
Police said a case has been registered and investigation was on.
