17-year-old girl hacked for resisting rape attempt

Lakhimpur: A 17-year-old girl was hacked by her cousin brother and his two accomplices after she resisted a rape attempt, the official sources said here on Tuesday.

"Saroj Kumar Pasi along with his two friends attempted to abuse the modesty of his cousin Neelam in Nanakpur village last evening and when she resisted the move they hacked her to death," the additional superintendent of police, Mr Ramakant Prasad, said.

The girl was all alone at her residence, when the incident took place, he said.

"An FIR had been lodged by Pushpendra, the brother of the deceased and all the three accused Saroj Kumar, Prem and Vinod had been arrested," the ASP said.
