SCR faces loss of Rs 25 cr
Hyderabad
Oct. 6: The South Central Railway (SCR) has suffered a loss of Rs 25 crore in the recent floods across the state.
The revenue loss between October 2 and 5, on account of disruption of rail services is to the extent of Rs 12.5 crore (freight traffic being Rs 10 crores and passenger traffic of Rs 2.5 crore).
However the good news is that the railway lines will be restored after October 15 in the affected sections.
The figure was given out by Mr K. Muniappa, the minister of state for railways, at Rail Nilayam, Secunderabad on Tuesday. It may be recalled that heavy rains and floods resulted in overflowing of water on to the railway tracks between Mantralayam and Irnagallu stations and Yermaras-Chiksugar Stations, which led to disruption of train services on the Wadi-Raichur-Guntakal section, the main route connecting the Western and Southern India.
